1. About Nanchang University

Nanchang University is a "Double First Class" university in China, a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Province, and a key university for overall construction in Jiangxi Province. NCU is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a demonstration base for study in China. It serves as a Standing Council Unit of the China Education Association for International Exchange, operates as the National Advanced Internet-based Test Site for HSK (the Chinese proficiency test), and is a member of the China-Thailand Higher Education Cooperation Alliance. Additionally, NCU has established exchange and cooperation relationships with over 230 universities and research institutions across more than 40 countries and regions.Furthermore, NCU has co-founded 4 Confucius Institutes and 2 Confucius Classrooms in France, Spain, and Indonesia. It has also established a Chinese Language Research Center in Russia. NCU has educated more than 6000 international students from over 120 countries.

3.Application Requirements

(1) Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health both mentally and physically.

(2) Be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs.

(3) Be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

(4) Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK Level 4 or above; those who have used Chinese as the teaching language to obtain a degree from a Chinese University need not provide a certificate of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK).

(5) Meet the admission requirements of the applied universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria.

4.Application Documents

(1)Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant's current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2025), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;

(2)Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

(3)Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university's academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;

(4)Language qualification certificates. Non-English native speakers shall provide English language proficiency certificates, like IELTS or TOFEL report;

(5)A study plan proposal. A study plan in English or in Chinese should include the academic background, study and work experiences, and focus on research plans during graduate studies;

(6)Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted with the references' signatures and personal contact information. These letters shall describe the applicant's objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad;

(7)A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant). The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months;

(8) Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application;

(9) Curriculum vitae. Consecutive study experiences since undergraduate. Full study experience is required for those who have studied in China;

(10) Scanned copies of the China related visa and residence permit, including all the study experiences. Upload your passport instead if there isn't any;

(11) Financial proof. Either the family deposit certificate, property certificate, or parent/guardian income certificate;

(12) Catalogue and abstract of published papers, if there is any;

6.Application Procedures

(1) Applicants use the international students’ online application system (http://apply.ncu.edu.cn) to fill in all the required information and submit documents. Nanchang University will conduct a preliminary qualification review for applicants and then arrange interviews for those who meet the requirements. Those who pass the interview will receive a pre-admission notice or acceptance letter issued by Nanchang University.

(2) Register and submit the online application on the CSC Online Application System for International Students (www.csc.edu.cn/laihua) , and upload all the application materials. Make sure you type in the correct Agency Number(the Agency Number of Nanchang University is 10403) and choose type B when selecting the “Program Category”.

(3)Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students

*Bachelor's students: 20,000 RMB/year

*Master&Doctoral students: 25,000 RMB/year

(4)NCU President Scholarship for International Students

*Bachelor's students: 

First Prize: 100% tuition free;

Second Prize: 70% tuition free;

Third Prize: 50% tuition free.

*Master & Doctoral students: Exempt from all tuition fees within

the normal academic duration.
